Selling Proof to Sceptics: How a Clinical-Claim Creative Strategy Doubled an FDA-Cleared Medical Device Brand
Theradome makes an FDA-cleared laser hair growth helmet — clinically proven technology with a NASA-engineering pedigree and over 6,000 positive reviews. It’s a considered, high-ticket purchase in a category drowning in shampoos, supplements and gadgets that promise everything and deliver nothing.
Theradome had something none of those competitors could copy: real clinical evidence, including sham-controlled trial data behind its FDA 510(k) clearance. It just wasn’t working hard enough in the marketing.
Hair loss buyers are the most sceptical audience in DTC. By the time they see a Theradome ad, they’ve already tried something that didn’t work — often several things. Standard product ads bounce straight off that scepticism.
Meanwhile, cheaper lookalike competitors like iRestore were competing on price with weaker evidence — and unchallenged, price wins. A high-ticket device needs education and proof before conversion, not a product shot and a discount code. The clinical moat existed; it needed to become the marketing.
We rebuilt the creative and landing page strategy around the one thing competitors couldn’t copy — turning regulatory documentation and trial data into the sharpest selling angle in the category.
Clinical claim strategy
We mapped exactly what Theradome could claim, building the framework on its FDA 510(k) clearance documentation. The sham-controlled trial data became the competitive wedge against iRestore, and follicle-level mechanism messaging explained why lasers work where shampoos can’t. Evidence stopped being a compliance footnote and became the hook.
Sceptic-aware creative and UGC
Ads were written for people who’ve been disappointed before — copy that acknowledges past failures first, then presents the mechanism. UGC briefs were built around real-user proof and before/after credibility, with closing-window urgency angles grounded in how hair loss actually progresses. Trust first, then the sale.
Advertorial and education funnel
A considered purchase needs a considered funnel. Long-form advertorial copy bridged cold traffic to the clinical story, with education-first flows matched to each visitor’s awareness level rather than pushing everyone straight to checkout.
Competitor comparison landing page
We met the “Theradome vs iRestore” research moment head-on with a side-by-side comparison built on evidence, not adjectives — converting price-shoppers into proof-shoppers at the exact moment they were deciding.
Theradome grew over 100% in 2025, with Meta running at a 3x ROAS and new customers acquired at a $200–$350 NCPA — strong economics for a premium device, leaving 35% net margins intact while spend scaled.
The evidence-led system did what discounting never could: it converted the most sceptical buyers in DTC at full price, profitably.
